The curriculum at Cox Green aims to enable all our students to be:
- Successful learners: who enjoy learning, make excellent progress and achieve their full potential. The hallmarks of being successful learners will be students who can use their thinking skills effectively, are able to work independently and in a scholarly way.
- Confident individuals: who are able to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives and who are capable of leading others.
- Responsible citizens: who make a positive contribution to society and use their talents and abilities for the benefit of others as well as themselves.
We aim to deliver the best possible education for our students. There is an emphasis on promoting strength and success in traditional academic subjects balanced with a desire to foster personalisation in our provision. The curriculum is constantly reviewed and developed to not only meet the needs and strengths of our students, but to provide rich opportunities for them to develop a range of skills and enjoy memorable experiences.
Throughout our curriculum we have strength in the core. An increased share of curriculum time is allocated to English and Maths throughout KS3 and KS4. There is a breadth of courses and range of levels across the curriculum, addressing the needs of all groups of students; a traditional academic offer balanced with specific vocational courses.
Students with specific learning needs often related to SEN or social, emotional or mental health difficulties, may well be involved in individual or small group activities at times.
Key Stage 3 operates over two years (Years 7 and 8), with Key Stage 4 operating over three years (Years 9, 10 and 11) and Key Stage 5 - Post 16 operating over two years (Years 12 and 13).
